The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence is not a religious order. We are an order of “queer” nuns, comprised of every type of sexual and gender identification. We are dedicated to community service, ministry and outreach to those on the edges, and to promoting human rights, respect for diversity and spiritual enlightenment. The Sisters believe all people have a right to express their unique joy and beauty and use humor and irreverent wit to expose the forces of bigotry, complacency and guilt that chain the human spirit. Our Mission is simple, “The Promulgation of Universal Joy and Expiation of Stigmatic Guilt.”
Started in 1979 in San Francisco, The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence is a world-wide organization, with more than 50 orders and missions on almost every continent.
Since 2004, the Tampa Bay Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (House of the Pillaged Booty) has provided a helping hand to the Tampa Bay/ St. Pete community.
